Vacuum impregnation is an important process in the insulation treatment of electric motor stators. Before insulating resin enters the winding structure, air trapped between conductors, insulation layers, and other small spaces needs to be removed. If too much air remains, it may affect resin penetration and create unwanted voids in the insulation system.
A suitable vacuum system helps prepare the stator for resin impregnation. When evaluating a 2SK-1.5 liquid ring vacuum pump for this process, engineers should consider more than the pump itself. The impregnation tank, resin storage tank, pipelines, valves, and resin transfer equipment must work together as a complete system.
Motor stator windings contain narrow spaces between conductors and insulation materials. These spaces can hold air before the impregnation process begins. Applying vacuum helps remove trapped air and prepares the internal structure for resin penetration.
The evacuation process usually takes place after the stator is loaded into the impregnation tank and the tank is properly sealed. The vacuum pump draws air from the tank through the connected pipeline. Once the required process condition is reached, resin can be introduced according to the equipment's operating sequence.
Air remaining inside the winding structure may prevent resin from reaching certain areas. Vacuum preparation helps reduce this problem by removing air before resin enters the tank. The actual impregnation result still depends on factors such as resin properties, winding design, workpiece condition, and the selected process cycle.
The impregnation tank is the main chamber in the system. Its internal volume, loading arrangement, and sealing condition directly affect the evacuation process. A larger tank or a heavier workpiece load may increase the amount of air that needs to be removed.
When considering the 2SK-1.5 liquid ring vacuum pump, engineers should compare the tank's effective volume and required evacuation time with the pump's performance under the actual operating pressure. The model should not be selected only by its nominal capacity.
The resin storage tank and transfer equipment need to be arranged according to the impregnation sequence. In some systems, resin is stored separately and introduced into the impregnation tank after the required vacuum condition is established.
The transfer pipeline should be designed to avoid unnecessary resistance and allow controlled resin delivery. Isolation valves are also important because they help separate the vacuum line from the resin circuit during different operating stages.
The number and size of stators loaded into the tank affect the available internal space and the total gas volume. Different winding structures may also release trapped air at different rates. Engineers should therefore consider the actual loading arrangement rather than relying only on the tank's external dimensions.
Some resin formulations may release volatile substances during processing. These vapors can enter the vacuum pipeline and influence the operating conditions of the pump. Depending on the resin and process temperature, a condenser, mist separator, or suitable filtration device may be required upstream of the pump.
The system should also include appropriate measures to prevent liquid resin or resin droplets from entering the vacuum pump. Equipment selection should take account of resin compatibility, vapor characteristics, and maintenance requirements.
The evacuation cycle should match the production process. A short cycle may not remove enough air from complex winding structures, while an unnecessarily long cycle can affect production efficiency. The required cycle should be established through process evaluation and testing.
Vacuum pipelines should be arranged with suitable diameters, limited unnecessary bends, and accessible isolation points. Proper valve positioning helps operators switch between evacuation, resin transfer, and other process stages.
The 2SK-1.5 can be considered as a vacuum source for a motor stator impregnation system when its performance matches the tank volume, gas load, operating pressure, and required cycle time. The final configuration should also account for resin vapor handling, liquid separation, pipeline resistance, and the operating sequence.
Rather than selecting a pump independently, engineers should evaluate the entire vacuum pressure impregnation equipment package. A coordinated design helps the vacuum pump, impregnation tank, resin storage tank, valves, and transfer system operate as one integrated process unit.
