Air suspension centrifugal blowers are widely used in municipal wastewater treatment and industrial wastewater treatment due to their high energy efficiency, low noise, and compact structure. As core equipment in wastewater aeration systems, their operating conditions directly affect treatment efficiency, effluent quality, and energy consumption. Therefore, establishing a scientific operation and maintenance program is essential for ensuring stable operation, extending equipment service life, and reducing maintenance costs.
Before starting the equipment, inspect the inlet air filter, inlet and outlet pipelines, and connecting components to ensure that the pipelines are unobstructed, connections are secure, and there are no obvious air leaks or blockages. Check the power supply, electrical control system, sensors, and cooling system to confirm that they are functioning properly. Ensure that the aeration tank valves are in the appropriate positions. For blowers equipped with intelligent control systems, verify the operating parameters and alarm records before startup.
During operation, closely monitor airflow, air pressure, current, rotational speed, temperature, and energy consumption. Adjust the blower output according to changes in wastewater treatment load. Insufficient aeration may result in inadequate dissolved oxygen and affect microbial metabolism, while excessive aeration increases electricity consumption and may adversely affect sludge settling performance.
Therefore, aeration volume should be adjusted according to dissolved oxygen levels, influent water quality, and treatment load. Avoid prolonged operation in inefficient operating ranges. When multiple blowers operate in parallel, load distribution should be optimized to reduce frequent starts and stops and unnecessary adjustments.
The intake filter is essential for reliable blower operation. Wastewater treatment plants often have high humidity, dust, and corrosive gases. A clogged filter increases inlet resistance, reduces blower efficiency, and may trigger equipment alarms.
Maintenance personnel should regularly check the filter differential pressure and filter element condition. Cleaning or replacement should be performed according to the actual contamination level. Replacement filters must meet equipment specifications to prevent foreign particles from entering the blower.
Air suspension centrifugal blowers generally use air suspension bearings, in which an air film supports the rotor and minimizes mechanical contact. As a result, conventional periodic lubrication is generally unnecessary. However, this does not mean that the equipment is maintenance-free.
Regularly inspect the bearing control system, speed feedback, motor temperature, and startup and shutdown records. Pay attention to abnormal vibration, unusual noise, and frequent alarms. Maintenance must follow the manufacturer's instructions. Unauthorized disassembly of high-speed rotors or adjustment of critical control parameters should be avoided.
Blockages in aeration pipelines, valves, or diffusers can increase system resistance, resulting in higher blower discharge pressure and greater energy consumption. Maintenance personnel should regularly inspect pipeline pressure, valve positions, and aeration uniformity. Clean the diffusers and remove pipeline deposits when necessary to maintain a stable and unobstructed air supply.
When these problems occur, first check whether the intake filter is clogged, pipelines are leaking, diffusers are blocked, or valves are improperly positioned. At the same time, review the blower operating parameters to determine whether the problem is caused by changes in treatment load or an unsuitable control strategy.
If the motor temperature rises or alarms occur frequently, inspect the air intake conditions, cooling system, power supply quality, and control system records. If the issue involves bearing protection, rotor abnormalities, or high-speed operating faults, shut down the equipment promptly and contact qualified technical personnel to prevent further damage.
Wastewater treatment plants should maintain equipment operating records, including startup and shutdown frequency, operating hours, energy consumption, alarm information, and maintenance history. Combine daily inspections, monthly checks, and annual overhauls to identify potential problems and develop maintenance plans based on the actual condition of the equipment.
Online dissolved oxygen monitoring, variable-speed control, and coordinated multi-blower operation can dynamically adjust the air supply according to wastewater treatment demand. These measures help reduce excessive aeration and unnecessary energy consumption. Regularly analyze energy consumption per unit of wastewater treated to continuously optimize blower operating strategies.
Air suspension centrifugal blowers play an important role in wastewater aeration systems. Standardized operation management, proper maintenance of critical components, timely troubleshooting, and intelligent aeration control can improve equipment reliability and energy efficiency, providing strong support for the safe, economical, and long-term operation of wastewater treatment systems.
