Pumping becomes possible by lightening the specific gravity of sewage by the bubble. Blower is used for the air supply.
An airlift pump operates on a simple yet effective principle: it reduces the specific gravity of sewage or other liquids by introducing air bubbles. When air is injected into a vertical or inclined pipe submerged in the liquid, the mixture of liquid and bubbles becomes less dense than the surrounding liquid. This density difference creates a natural upward flow, allowing the liquid to be pumped to a higher elevation without the need for mechanical impellers or moving parts. The air supply is typically provided by a blower, which delivers a continuous stream of compressed air into the system. This method is particularly advantageous in situations where traditional pumps may clog or fail due to the presence of solids or viscous materials. Airlift pumps are also energy-efficient, as they rely on the buoyancy of air bubbles rather than high-pressure mechanical systems. They are commonly used in wastewater treatment, aquaculture, and industrial processes where gentle handling of fluids is required.
